About the Opportunity
Cormode & Dickson is currently looking for an experienced Site Superintendent to join our team in Edmonton, AB, or Okanagan, BC on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations at our project sites. This includes managing field project plans and schedules, quality control, safety, and the delegation of work to field staff, contractors, and tradespeople, while ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
While no two days will ever be the same in this pivotal role, your more typical responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications and coordinating with reviewed shop drawings
- Maintaining effective and efficient supervision of labor and materials
- Ensuring that site safety measures meets provincial legislation and regulations
- Ensuring milestone and completion dates are met
- Utilizing a 3-week look ahead schedule to communicate effectively to all field staff and tradespeople and reporting back to the Project Manager on any issues
- Coordinating with the Project Manager on review, maintenance, and updating of the overall construction schedule
- Overseeing the care and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment on the project site
- Providing feedback to the Project Manager regarding sub-trade/supplier invoices for work completed, reporting any discrepancies
- Managing hourly employees as required, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget
- Reviewing deliveries before signing packing slips and reporting discrepancies immediately to the Project Manager
- Communicating changes on-site immediately so that the Project Manager may issue Change Orders as required
- Maintaining a daily report, and submitting the report at the end of each day to the Project Manager
- Assisting with construction as required, operating with the team to ensure the work is completed on time and on budget
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you'll need 5-10 years of relevant experience, a valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation, along with an intermediate understanding and experience with ground-up construction. Licensed Carpenters are preferred, but not required. We may consider a differing mix of skills, experience, and education.
